The first Tourism & Residents Forum
On Tuesday 2 May 2023, the first Tourism & Residents Forum was held at the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie in the Hôtel Dieu building. A meeting between residents and tourism professionals to work together to develop more sustainable tourism in Lyon.
To achieve its sustainable tourism goals, the Lyon Metropolitan Tourist Office has adopted an approach that makes residents part of its tourism development strategy.
How ? In 2022, it produced a questionnaire for residents to gather their opinions on tourism.
Result : the 668 responses have been fed into plans to get residents involved in meeting Lyon’s tourism challenges.
The Lyon Metropolitan Tourist Office created the Tourism & Residents Forum and held the first edition on Tuesday the 2nd of May, bringing together 34 residents and 22 professionals. Participants had the pleasure of listening to introductions by Hélène Duvivier-Dromain, Lyon Metropolitan’s Vice-President of Tourism, as well as V. Carton and R. Revat, respectively Director and President of Lyon’s Tourist Office.
Several responsible tourism topics formed the core of discussions, to find concrete actions to be implemented in Lyon. Many ideas emerged from this meeting, and can be consulted in the Tourism & Residents Forum Booklet.
Now : 23 have emerged from this collaboration and are brought together in the Tourism & Residents Forum Booklet that can be consulted below.
